LILY HILL FARM — BEEF SHARE PURCHASE TERMS
Whole, Half, and Quarter Beef Shares
Effective Date: August 12, 2026
These terms apply only to whole, half, and quarter beef share purchases. They are part of our Terms of Service and, where they conflict with the general Terms, these control.
A beef share is not priced like the steaks on our website. You pay one fixed price for a share. The pound figures we quote are estimated yield, not a bill — and your own cut sheet choices will move that number up or down. Please read Sections 2 and 3 before you place a deposit.
1. WHAT YOU ARE BUYING
1.1 You are purchasing a beef share — a whole, half, or quarter of a single animal raised by Lily Hill Farm, processed and packaged to your cut sheet specifications.
1.2 USDA inspection. Beef shares are processed at a USDA-inspected establishment. All product is inspected and passed, and bears the USDA mark of inspection.
1.3 Personal use — a contractual commitment. Beef shares are sold for your personal and household use. You agree not to resell your share or any portion of it, and not to offer it for sale through any retail, restaurant, food service, or marketplace channel, consistent with Section 12 of our Terms of Service.
2. PRICE — FIXED, NOT BY WEIGHT
2.1 One fixed price. A beef share is sold at a flat, fixed price disclosed at the time of order:
2.2 What the price includes. The fixed price includes the beef, USDA processing, cutting, wrapping, vacuum sealing, and freezing.
2.3 The price does not change with actual weight. You will not receive a second invoice. There is no balance adjustment based on hanging weight, carcass weight, or finished weight. If your animal yields more than estimated, you keep the difference at no extra charge. If it yields less, you pay no less. This is the deal: you are buying a share of an animal at a known price, not a quantity of beef at a per-pound price.
2.4 Why we price this way. Weight-based pricing means you do not know what you owe until after the animal is harvested. We would rather you know your exact cost when you place the order.
3. ESTIMATED YIELD — WHAT "ESTIMATED" MEANS
3.1 Yield figures are estimates only. Any pound figure we give you — in a product description, an email, a conversation, or this document — is an estimate of what you can expect to take home. It is not a guarantee, not a minimum, and not a term of sale.
3.2 Your cut sheet moves your yield — significantly. This is the single most important thing to understand before you fill out a cut sheet. The same animal, cut two different ways, produces meaningfully different package weights:
- Boneless cuts weigh less than bone-in. Deboning roasts and steaks removes weight you would otherwise take home.
- Heavy trimming reduces weight. Asking for closely trimmed steaks and lean ground removes fat that would otherwise be in your boxes.
- Thicker steaks mean fewer steaks, at roughly the same total weight.
- Declining organ meats, bones, and fat reduces total pounds.
- More ground beef generally increases usable take-home weight relative to a cut-heavy sheet.
A customer who orders everything boneless and closely trimmed will take home noticeably less than a customer who keeps bone-in cuts — at the same fixed price. Both got what they paid for: a share of the animal, cut their way.
3.3 Animals vary. Finished weight, muscling, fat cover, and dressing percentage differ between animals and across seasons. Aging causes moisture loss. These are ordinary characteristics of an agricultural product.
3.4 A yield within or below the estimated range is not a shortage and is not grounds for a refund, credit, or price adjustment. See Section 7.
4. DEPOSIT, PAYMENT, AND CANCELLATION
4.1 Deposit. A deposit is due at order. The deposit reserves a specific animal on a specific processing date.
4.2 The deposit is non-refundable once an animal is committed. Once we assign an animal to you and reserve a processing date, we cannot resell your share on short notice. If you cancel after that point, your deposit is forfeited. If you cancel before commitment, we refund it in full. We will tell you in writing when commitment occurs.
4.3 Balance. The balance of the fixed price is due at pickup. We are not obligated to release your beef until paid in full.
4.4 Abandonment. If you do not pay the balance or do not pick up within 14 days of our notice that your order is ready, we may — after a second written notice and a further 7 days — treat the order as abandoned, retain amounts paid as liquidated damages for storage and handling, and dispose of the beef. Frozen storage is finite; this is a physical constraint rather than a threat, and we will call you before it comes to that.
4.5 If we cannot deliver. If we cannot deliver your share for any reason attributable to us or to a force majeure event, we will refund everything you have paid, including the deposit. That refund is your sole remedy.
5. CUT SHEET
5.1 We will send you a cut sheet specifying how your share is cut, wrapped, and packaged.
5.2 Deadline: no later than 7 days before the scheduled processing date.
5.3 If you miss the deadline, we or the processor will apply our standard cut selection, and you will have no claim based on cut choices or the resulting yield. Processors cut on a fixed schedule and a late sheet cannot be accommodated.
5.4 Cut sheet instructions are executed by the processor. We are not responsible for the processor's execution, though we will advocate for you with them if something goes wrong.
5.5 Ask us before you guess. If you are unsure how a choice affects your boxes, call us. We will tell you honestly which selections reduce your take-home weight — we would much rather have that conversation before processing than after.
6. TIMELINE, PICKUP, AND RISK
6.1 Shares run on the processor's calendar. Lead times are commonly 3–6 months and can be longer. Dry aging of 14 days occurs after harvest, before cutting.
6.2 Processing dates move. Plant scheduling, staffing, equipment, inspection availability, and animal readiness all shift dates. A schedule change is not a breach and does not entitle you to a refund of the deposit, though we will always discuss options with you. We will not send an animal to harvest before it is finished.
6.3 Pickup. Shares are at 600 Baughs Cross Road, West Point, Georgia, 31822. You must pick up within 14 days of notice.
6.4 Freezer space — check before you order. A half share occupies roughly 8–10 cubic feet. Confirm you have capacity. Bring coolers or a truck; this does not fit in a car trunk.
6.5 Risk of loss passes to you at pickup, or at delivery to your address if we deliver.
7. WHAT WE WARRANT AND WHAT WE DO NOT
7.1 We warrant that the animal was raised by us in accordance with our stated practices, was healthy and fit for harvest, and was processed under USDA inspection at an inspected establishment.
7.2 We do not warrant any particular take-home weight, yield percentage, package count, cut count, marbling grade, tenderness, or flavor. Estimated yield figures are estimates and are expressly excluded from any warranty. These outcomes depend on the individual animal and on your cut sheet, and are outside our control.
7.3 We do not warrant the processor's work. Claims about cutting, wrapping, labeling, mislabeled packages, or missing cuts must be raised with the processor, and we will help you do so.
7.4 The disclaimers and limitations in Sections 20 and 21 of the Terms of Service apply, and our aggregate liability for a share will not exceed the fixed price you paid for it.
8. INSPECT AT PICKUP
8.1 Inspect your packages at pickup. Report thawed product, damaged packaging, or packages belonging to another customer within twenty-four (24) hours of pickup, with photographs.
8.2 After 24 hours we cannot verify how the beef was transported or stored.
8.3 Yield is not a defect. A total weight at or below the estimated range is not a shortage and is not a valid claim under this Section or under our Return and Refund Policy. See Sections 3 and 7.2. If you believe packages are genuinely missing — as opposed to your total simply coming in lighter than hoped — tell us and we will reconcile against the processor's packing records.
9. QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY
If anything about fixed pricing or estimated yield is unclear, call us before placing a deposit. Fifteen minutes on the phone beats a surprise at pickup, for both of us.
