Caramelized Korean Style Ground Beef

  • 1 lb of ground beef 
  • 1/2 an onion chopped
  • 1/4 cup of soy sauce 
  • 3 tbsp of light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of crush red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

Brown ground beef in cast iron skillet over medium heat, breaking up your beef into small pieces with a wooden spoon. Once beef has almost finished browning add in onion and garlic, continue to brown until onion is translucent. In a cup, mix soy sauce, sugar, oil, chili flakes, black pepper, and ginger. Pour over the beef and stir thoroughly. Let it simmer on medium-low for 5 minutes. Dish it out over rice, topped with cut scallions or parsley.
